Paraguay coach Gerardo Martino has named a 30 man squad ahead of the tournament in South Africa. Argentina born Lucas Barrios has been included in the squad thanks to his Paraguayan mother. Dortmund clubmate Nelson Valdez also makes the cut. England connections are provided by Paulo da Silva of Sunerland and Roque Santa of Manchester City. Unfortunately Salvador Cabañas hasn't made the squad after being shot in Mexico City last January.
Goalkeepers: Justo Villar (Valladolid, Spain), Aldo Bobadilla (Independiente Medellín, Colombia), Diego Barreto (Cerro Porteño, Paraguay).
Defenders: Claudio Morel Rodriguez (Boca Juniors, Argentina), Denis Caniza (Leon, Mexico), Paulo da Silva (Sunderland, England), Dario Veron (Pumas UNAM/Mexico), Julio Cesar Caceres (Atlético Mineiro, Brazil), Julio Manzur (Tigres, Argentina), Carlos Bonet (Olimpia, Paraguay), Aureliano Torres (San Lorenzo, Argentina), Marcos Caceres (Racing, Argentina), Antolin Alcaraz (FC Bruges/Belgium).
Midfielders: Edgar Barreto (Atalanta, Italy), Cristian Riveros (Cruz Azul, Mexico), Osvaldo Martinez (Monterrey, Mexico), Victor Caceres (Libertad, Paraguay), Enrique Vera (LDU Quito, Ecuador), Jonathan Santana (VfL Wolfsburg, Germany), Sergio Aquino (Libertad, Paraguay), Eduardo Ledesma (Lanús, Argentina), Nestor Ortigoza (Argentinos Juniors, Argentina), Marcelo Estigarribia (Newell's Old Boys, Argentina).
Forwards: Roque Santa Cruz (Manchester City, England), Nelson Haedo Valdez (Borussia Dortmund, Germany), Oscar Cardozo (Benfica, Portugal), Edgar Benitez (Toluca, Mexico), Lucas Barrios (Borussia Dortmund, Germany), Rodolfo Gamarra (Libertad, Paraguay), Jorge Achucarro (Newell's Old Boys, Argentina).
This leaves Argentina and Chile left from CONMEBOL to name squads.
