Vasco da Gama x Palmeiras
Cruzeiro x Avaí
Atlético Paranaense x Guarani

Muricy Ramalho must already be feeling the heat as Fluminense entertain Atlético-GO at the Maracanã. The defeat last week at newly promoted Ceará wasn't good and Atlético-GO come into the game full of confidence after the midweek away win at Vitória in the Copa. Prudente were shocking last week at Avaí and it isn't getting any easier for them this week when they welcome Atlético-MG to the Prudentão. Diego Tardelli will have a big point to prove this week after his exclusion from the World Cup squad and after a great performance in the Paulista it's suddenly looking like a long year for Prudente. Vitória were disappointing in midweek when losing to Atlético-GO but they weren't as bad as Flamengo were in the Libertadores. The scales are tipped in favour of Vitória in this one as Fla might have one eye on their trip to Santiago in midweek.

São Paulo's impressive midweek win at Cruzeiro will have put them in good heart when they entertain Botafogo. The Rio club were a little rusty during last weeks opener against Santos but it's difficult seeing them taking any points away from the Morumbi. Fortress Grêmio welcomes Corinthians to the Olímpico and after coming from a two goal defecit to defeat Santos in midweek it looks like there won't be many teams taking points away again this season. Corinthians comeback win over Atlético-PR wiped out the memory of a Libertadores exit but home advantage really is the big thing here. Goiás are looking for their first points of the season when they entertain Internacional. Against Libertadores committments might play a part here for Inter as they have a lead to defend in La Plata next week. Goiás lost to promoted Guarani last week and will be looking to bounce back.

Santos threw away a two goal lead in midweek but should have no problems dispatching Ceará at the Vila Belmiro. Ceará though will be buoyed by their opening day win over Fluminense. Vasco host Palmeiras in what is test more of the visitors abilities than the home side. Vasco leaked two early goals to go down at Atlético-MG last week whilst Palmeiras scrambled past a Vitória side distracted by Copa committments. If Vasco go down in this one it expect the alarm bells to ring. Table topping Avaí go to the Minerão to take on a Cruzeiro side brushed aside in midweek by São Paulo. If Avaí take the confidence into the game they gained last week they may just get the bacon against a side that will be more interested in rescuing their Libertadores campaign in midweek. Finally Atlético-PR host newly promoted Guarani. Atlético-PR threw a lead away at Corinthians last week and this is a must win game for them if they are to avoid another relegation battle this year while Guarani look to build on last weeks success.
