Botafogo, boosted by a win in São Paulo last week, host a Goiás side that has flattered to decieve so far this season. Fogo currently lie fourth whilst Goiás have yet to pick up a point this season. Copa finalists Santos travel at an Atlético-GO side that was dumped out of the Copa in midweek. It's a huge task ahead of the promoted side and they have only a point for their troubles so far. It may be too much to expect them to collect anything against a Santos side that is scoring goals for fun. The last Saturday game sees Palmeiras entertain Grêmio, woeful at the São Januário last week the Big Green will be looking to pick up three points against a Grêmio side with serious travel sickness. Grêmio may want to prove a point after losing their long unbeaten home record last week.

The only 100% record belongs to Corinthians and they entertain Fluminense. Winning at Fortress Grêmio would be a huge boost to Corinthians confidence and Fluminense are still getting used to new trainer Muricy Ramalho. Atlético-MG were woeful in Prudente last week and will be looking to hit back when they face Atlético-PR. It seems the visitors may be in for a long old season again and they need to get some points on the board to avoid another relegation battle. In a strange twist of fate, Inter and São Paulo stage a Libertadores semi final rehearsal after both were successful in midweek. Inter knocked holders Estudiantes out and São Paulo removed fellow Brazilians Cruzeiro. With the Continental competition now on the back burner til the end of July both teams can turn their attention to the league after fielding under strength sides in their opening games.

Vitória qualified for their first Copa final in midweek and will be looking to take that confidence with the to Ceará. The promoted side have started confidently and remain unbeaten in their opening two games. Vasco, with a new coach in tow, have a sifficult task against Avaí. They hit 6 in their opening home game and with Vasco failing to impress so it could be a long day. Flamengo need to bounce back from their Libertadores exit and entertain a Prudente side full of confidence after their big win over Atlético-MG last week. Tough times ahead for the Rubro-Negro as defending their title is their only chance of success this year. Another promoted side who have made a decent start is Guarani and they entertain a Cruzeiro side licking their wounds after a Libertadores exit in midweek.
