5-5 on aggregate, Santos wins by virtue of higher league position
Santos claimed an 18th Paulista title despite a 3-2 defeat to Santo André at the Pacembeu. Trailing 3-2 from the first game a week ago Santo André knew that they would have to win the game by two clear goals to be crowned champions and they got a dream start when they were ahead inside a minute. Santo André had 45 minutes to get the goal to give them the title but the closest they got was in the last minute when Branquinho hit the posts and Santos were to celebrate their title despite a defeat.
In the Torneo Interior Botafogo SP claimed the honours after a 1-0 victory over São Caetano gave them the title by virtue of a superior league position. The winner came sixteen minutes from time courtesy of Jonas to level matters on aggregate and give Botafogo SP the result they needed.
