It got worse when Anselmo Ramon put Rio Branco ahead half way through the second half, but they were also reduced to 10 men seven minutes from time when Vinicius was dismissed. Pablo Escobar snatched a point for Mirassol three minutes from time.
Champions Corinthians climbed back into the top 4 after an away win at São Caetano. Again it was another late goal from Dentinho which claimed the points for Corinthians ahead of their midweek Libertadores clash in Medellín. The long winning run of Santos was ended by Portuguesa. Heverton put the home side ahead in the 14th minute and it looked like they were going to claim all three points but they were pegged back in the last minute by Zé Eduardo. Another team in Libertadores action in midweek, São Paulo, warmed up for their trip to Asunción with a comfortable victory over Ponte Preta. Both goals coming in the first half from Washington, to take his total to 5 for the season.
Santo André came from behind to claim the points in the big clash of the weekend against Botafogo SP. Leandro Amaro put Botafogo ahead six minutes before the break but they were pegged back on the stroke of half time by Bruno Cesar. Santo André dominated the second half, Branquinho put Santo André ahead on the hour and Ricardo Conceicao doubled the lead 18 minutes later. Xuxa was then sent off for Botafogo SP 9 minutes from time and Nunes wrapped this up a minute later to give Santo André their seventh straight win. No goals between Rio Claro and Mogi Mirim, a result which leaves both teams looking over their shoulder at the relegation zone. Ituano moved up to ninth after their victory over relegation threatened Paulista. Welton got the only goal of the game from the penalty spot in the sixth minute, but they finished with 10 men after Alemão was sent off 12 minutes into the second half. Palmeiras left it very late as they bounced back from consecutive defeats against Sertãozinho. Lenny put the Big Green ahead in the 22nd minute but they were stunned 5 minutes either side of the break when Mendes and a penalty from Ricardo Lopes but rock bottom Sertãozinho ahead. Cleiton Xavier then levelled the game seven minutes from time and then grabbed the winner 4 minutes into injury time.
