Assis Mota put Botafogo ahead seven minutes after the break but they suffered a blow when Eduardo Dida was sent off eight minutes before time. That setback didn't prevent Botafogo making sure of the victory when João Henrique struck in injury time. Ituano hauled themselves out of the relegation zone when they held on for victory at Ponte Preta.
