With Internacional carting off to Germany for the Audi Cup in Munich on 26/27 July they travelled to the Pacaembu to take on league leaders Corinthians. Corinthians went for the throat from the off but were met by a stubborn Inter side who seemed to be happy to leave São Paulo with a point in the bag. Inter were finally broken down fourteen minutes from time when a Willian shot beat Muriel at the far post to get his fifth goal of the season. The victory doubled Corinthians advatage over Flamengo at the top of the table and kept their unbeaten start to the season intact.
